Thunchan / Thunjan
festival begins at Tirur, Malappuram
district in Kerala. The festival is conducted in memory of Thunchath
Ezhuthachan, the father of Malayalam literature at his birth place, Thunjan
Prambu at Tirur. The festival is scheduled from 01 February 2014 to o5 February
2014.
Schedule of the festival
The festival is inaugurated by Dr. Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari,
the well-known writer and president of Sahithya Academy in the presence of the
chairperson M T Vasudevan Nair. A
national seminar on Indian literature –
the changing concept of family and kinship is conducted in the festival. A
lecture in memory of Thunchath Ezhuthachan by B Rajeev, competition on poetry,
and quiz on literature in conducted on the first day of the festival. The
evenings of the festival is made colorful with various cultural programmes.
There will be carnatic music concert by T M Krishna, the famous vocalist from
Chennai on the evening of 01st February 2014. The national seminar and
Kuchippudi performance by Dr Alekhya Punjala will be conducted on the second day
of the festival. Seminars, talks, events on literature and various colorful
programmes are conducted on these days.
